I first fell in love with pretty dresses while watching musicals as a little girl in Australia. I wanted to sing, dance and dress like Sandy (Grease), Grace (Annie), Liesl and Maria (Sound of Music).
In my late teens I realised I wasn’t going to be the next Liza Minnelli so I obtained a degree in Media Production. I followed that up with a lot of travel, relocating to London, marrying a nice English boy, 11 years in the Entertainment Industry and a baby.
I must credit my best friend, Daniela, with coming up with the idea of selling vintage wedding dresses. It was one of those pipe dreams you talk about after a bad day at work and a few bottles of wine. We were going to marry our love of cheesy musical fashion with weddings and vintage dresses. And we talked about it and talked about it and bought a couple of dresses…. Several years after the pipe dream was first discussed I was made redundant. This gave me the kick up the bum I needed to turn the pipe dream into a reality.
Unfortunately, the wind beneath my wings (aka Daniela) was moving back to Australia. So I decided to go it alone (cue Confidence in Confidence song from the Sound of Music).
I started scouring the world for beautiful vintage dresses and set up Hopelessly Devoted Vintage Bridal. So if you want to look as angelic as Maria when she married Captain Von Trapp or like ‘a beautiful, blond, pineapple’ (Frenchie style) on your big day, you’ve come to the right place.
